Roam Ahead Media is a small creative content business located in Newcastle NSW, owned by myself, Jen (I'll be your photographer & or videographer) & second shooter / partner in crime - Andy (filmmaker, drone op, Super8 wizard, dog lover & my fiancé). We have been proudly shooting since 2014, where we not only serve Australia, but worldwide as well.
In the days we're not shooting weddings, we're covering live sets or creating music videos for several artists such as Client Liaison, Thundamentals, CXLOE, Trophy Eyes, Hands Like Houses & so on. If not that, then it is working with small - large businesses or digitising old media like photo negatives, handycam video tapes or super8 film from those cameras back in 1960's.
We love camping, road-trips, checking out waterfalls or just taking on the short & dangerous journey to get some shnitty! - Get in ma belly!

This is why we only take on 20 weddings a year - to provide our couples the best experience possible & be fully & completely present for you!

I can’t put into words how incredible Jen and Andy are from Roam Ahead Weddings. They went over and beyond for us. Being in the wedding industry ourselves we had high expectations for the photography and videography for our wedding. To say they blew us away would be an understatement.
Since receiving our wedding video, we have watched it 5-10 times a day. Crying and reliving the incredible moments that go so fast. Every detail that they captured is out of this WORLD.
It really hits the heart and are memories that we can forever look back on.

After having a stressful time trying to find a photo/video team we stumbled across Roam Ahead. They made the whole process a breeze from booking to the actual day and their communication was A++. On the day they made us all feel very relaxed and the quality of the photos and video that we received are next level amazing. I’ve built a range of packages that vary between $7850 - $4200, where most couples are spending $6800 for the combination of both videography + photography.
We can also tailor a package to suit you, as well as the option to pay via a payment plan.
What about pricing?
Super8 film is a way of recording video back in the 60s era! Despite the age of this media type, it's having a HUGE come back where filters to fake this look is massively trending all over social media. Why fake the super 8 look when we can actually film on it? Trust me, its different but a whole lot better than those filters faking it. If you wish to give super 8 a go - I guarantee you won't be disappointed! In fact, you will be so glad you gave it the chance and everyone is going to LOVEEEE it!
What makes this media type so special other than the look? Not many people can master this craft & it is quite expensive to buy this film, develop it and digitise it.
Buying one film reel + processing alone is about $100. The cameras themselves are hard to come by and range from $1k-$5K for working quality film cameras. Digitising can easily add up too.
In regards to your wedding - we cover those costs!
Your film reels will actually last for a very long time. Far longer than flash drives, dvds, vhs tapes, handycam tapes and probably even us and our life -time.
With this service, you will receive this footage incorporated into your highlight film + the added bonus of another edit specifically just of Super 8 footage + you get to keep the film reel/s too! Perfect for handing down as your family heirloom for your future generations.
One film reel (cartridge) records around 3 minutes, so we can use as many film reels as we can if you're keen? One massive positive with this also, is that we digitise and scan the film all in-house with our 4K (resolution) scanner. This is something we’re quite proud about and absolutely love (this is also our other business - digitising and archiving of historic and family films).

The final deliverables will be generally be 6-8 weeks after the wedding date for either photography or videography or 10-12 weeks for both. Depending on the time of year, this could be a bit less.
We deliver our photos via an elegant online gallery in which you can view, share and download your web-sized and HI-RES images.
Videos are delivered via Wetransfer - similar to dropbox / google drive, where you receive and download files from via a link. You can download straight to your phone, iPad or to a computer device.

The perfect way to reminisce without distractions of notifications, messages and all that fun stuff. You'll be drawn in by the elegance and quality of these albums, as they will outlast us all!
Albums are a lovely physical memento to keep on the coffee table, to give your parents, or grandparents to cherish and flick through.
Why should I get a wedding album?
I’ve built a range of packages to choose from, where pricing starts at $3,300 through to $7,850 (for AUS weddings). New Zealand and other overseas weddings will be subject to change pricing depending on when and where. Please enquire for these kind of specific details. We offer payment plans & options to custom build your own package! Pricing varies depending on the service you desire: eg: video or photo or both.
We heavily photograph & film weddings around Newcastle, Lake Macquarie, Hunter Valley & Port Stephens. But we also serve outside of these areas, all around Australia & even internationally. Prices will vary over time to align with travel needed & so on. Feel free to get in touch & ask some questions.
What about pricing?
Having an additional photographer or videographer is never a bad idea. It's only when theres about 4 shooters, that it then becomes too much of a production over anything else. This really deters from keeping it candid and non-obtrusive.
We generally shoot with just the two of us. Keeping in mind that Andy is your main videographer and I will be the photographer and or videographer. When I'm your photographer, I will begetting some bits and pieces of video as well. So you're essentially getting 2 videographers for the price of one.
Though if you are having over 80 guests and booking us in for 8+ hours coverage for both video and photos, an additional photographer is recommended. As this will allow us to have a variety of perspectives and also have the ability to be in more than one place at one given time.
